The I List Widget!

Announcing the official I List Widget!

The I List, a list of Iowa Bloggers, was originally started by my friends Drew McLellan and Mike Sansone and has really taken off! I have seen it on maybe a dozen sites.

However, I decided there were so many lists out there, some with errors and some with different links, that there should be one “official” list. That way if there are changes to the list, they’re automatically updated everywhere! Sound cool? I thought so too.

So, I made an I List page where you can request edits/additions/deletions to the list and, most importantly, I made a widget for you to include in your own site. That way you can be sure it will always be up-to-date with the full selection of Iowa Bloggers.

Try it out: (and feel free to embed it on your own blog!)

P.S. I moved the widget out of this post just to keep things tidy on my site. You can still find the widget over there on the right side of the page in my side bar —–>

P.S.S. I had a request to decrease the vertical height a bit (which I agreed was a good idea). So you may notice in the next few days that the height gets shrunk a bit. No need to do anything different on your end, change will auto-update.

Is There Tech in Iowa?

Is there interesting technology being used and developed in Iowa? You bet there is! And to prove it, I have teamed up with my friend Andy Brudtkuhl to bring it to you. In the very near future, you’ll start to see videos about technology in Iowa at techiniowa.com (be patient, we’re almost there).

To kick things off for our first episode, Andy recently talked with Des Moines business owner, Nathan Wright of Lava Row about social media. I thought it was a great discussion! (video below)

What do you think?

If you know any folks doing some interesting things with technology, drop me or Andy a note and we’ll add them to our list.

My green screen guinea pig

I just finished up my first “green screen” project for fellow Central Iowa Blogger, Doug Mitchell and his associate Paul Gratton — for their new venture, Rental Metrics. Their goal was to quickly pitch their services to help potential customers understand this new business and how Rental Metrics can help. (If you haven’t talked to Doug or Paul about this new venture, be sure to do so… I think they’re on to something with this forward-thinking business model.)

Thanks to Doug for being my green screen guinea pig and to Paul for being a great co-producer. You guys were a pleasure to work with, and I really enjoyed learning more about what you are up to.
