Streaming Video. What would you watch live?

I got to fiddling around with live streaming video today. (In this case I was messing with Ustream.tv.) Some things are very long, and videos of them might not be watched due to length. But if live, one could tune in and tune out at any point during the event.

Anyway, it really got me thinking, and wondering…

What events, activities, information, or other stuff would YOU watch if it were offered live?

Would you watch the Central Iowa Bloggers meetup at PaneraU every first Friday, if you couldn’t make it? I would probably tune in if I couldn’t make it.

Would you watch the Big Dream Gathering? I didn’t know about the first one and couldn’t make the last one, but was very curious about it. I might have watched, at least part of it.

How about the IowaBiz.com Breakfast held every month? It’s early in the A.M. and might be tough for some people to attend. Would you tune in live?

What about McLellan Marketing’s Branding Breakfast? I’ve (shamefully) never been and would at least like to see what I’m missing.

What about your church service if you’re sick. Or a seminar if you couldn’t get away from work? How about events at the Iowa State Fair? Maybe your city council meeting?

What about daycare, would you tune in to see what your kids were doing? What about classrooms?

What else (or who else) would you watch live online?

If you’re a business, how could you leverage live web-based video broadcasting?

Don’t be shy. Post below… we’d all benefit from your ramblings.

I was just wondering aloud why nobody was streaming Jobs’ MacWorld keynote a few weeks ago. Seems like you are thinking along the same lines at a local level here in good ol’ Des Moines. Would I watch the CIB meetup? Yes. Dream Big Gathering? This is the first I’ve heard of it so… maybe. IowaBiz breakfast? Yes. Breanding breakfast? Yes. Iowa State Fair events? That’s more about the deep fried oreos for me than any event. Probably no on that one.

Heck, you’ve got a camera. Ustream.tv is free. Give it a try and I’ll tune in.

What a great idea. Drew McLellan is going to be speaking at our Bartlesvville Marketing Assoc meeting this Thursday. You’ve got me thinking about streaming our monthly Marketing meetings. maybe this would be a great event to start with. Will need to find out more about Ustream.

I’d watch streaming video over TV any day. I stream 2 webcams from my home office live so my family and friends can see what’s happening w/the Iowa weather, etc. I’d watch events live if the quality was dependable. BIG IF.

Chris, what a great way to literally be two places at one time. There are endless possibilities for this tool.My head is spinning with ideas of how this can be used in education. Thanks for paving the way for us newbies!

Scott P. - Thanks for the input! I just might have to try a few live events and see if anyone watches! :)

Scott T. - If you do a live broadcast for your marketing meeting, will it be public? Holler if you want folks to watch, and I’ll help spread the word. (Plus, I’d like to tune in.)

Doug - I didn’t realize you were already streaming. Though I shoulda known… you are a big tech junkie. ;)

Angela - Yep. I agree. All sorts of ideas come to my mind as well. And you’re very welcome. That’s what I’m here for.
